Dr Lydia Nanjula from Uganda who undertook the Operation Hernia training workshop in 2017 at St Francis Hospital, Nsambya, recently presented a paper entitled “competence-based training – the hernioplasty prototype”. Her presentation was at the College of South, East, Central and Southern Africa (COSESCA) scientific conference held in December 2017. At the conference in Maputo, Mozambique she received the Lindsay Stewart Award sponsored by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
The third mesh hernia repair training workshop, a joint venture between Operation Hernia and COSECSA is due to take place in September 2018, again in Kampala and Nsambya, Uganda.
