1. New Theatre Table
2. New Ceiling Operating Lamp
3. New Diathermy machine
AGM CSR Funds Vital Hernia Training Programme: Operation Hernia has entered into a partnership with the Ghana Hernia Society to deliver the national hernia training programme. AGM provides generous funding for the training programme. This was supplemented in 2020 by funding from Operation Hernia.
IMPORTANCE OF THE HERNIA TRAINING PROGRAMME
The burden of hernias in Ghana is huge. The economic toll is not insignificant. The ability to work is affected in 80% of hernia sufferers. Access to treatment is limited by lack of appropriately trained surgeons and inadequate health facilities. That is why the Ghana Hernia Society has embarked on the national hernia training programme, to train more doctors in the district hospitals. This will result in an increase in the repair rate of hernias in Ghana.
Without funding from AGM CSR, the Training Courses cannot be successfully organised.
The first of the Training programmes was held in 2019. Fourteen (14) doctors were trained. 3 Training Courses have been planned for 2021.
