College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa (COSECSA) is the largest Surgical Training Institution in Sub-Saharan Africa. COSECSA fosters postgraduate education in surgery and provides surgical training throughout the East, Central and Southern Africa region.

Partnership with Operation Hernia

At the executive meeting held on July 28, 2015 in Geneva, COSECSA accredited Operation Hernia as Trainers of COSECSA residents in Hernia surgery on. Prof Ignatius Kakande was tasked with organising the Hernia training courses. A very succesful first Cosecsa Hernia training course was held at St Francis Hospital at Nsambysa in Kampala, Uganda in September 2016. A formal report was sent to COSECSA Secretariat. The results are summarised below.
