Fundraising is essential for Operation Hernia to continue our work. We are a volunteer organisation with no significant overheads. Therefore every donation will be spent on improving the care of patients with hernias.

Our surgeon and nurse volunteers (who are our main asset) pay for their own travel and accommodation expenses to the host country. The money that you give will be spent on improving infrastructure (generators, air conditioners, water supply, operating theatre) and equipment (diathermy units, surgical instruments, gowns, drapes) and supplies (polypropylene mesh for the hernia repair, sutures, surgical gloves, syringes, needles etc), so that we can deliver high quality surgery.

Whether it is bungee jumping, car boot sales, trekking or cycle challenges there are many ways you could raise funds for Operation Hernia.  Fundraising is a great way to challenge yourself as well as being fun and extremely rewarding. It’s also a great way of making new friends.

Donation From Nuffield

Stock Checking Donations

Without your fundraising efforts Operation Hernia would find it much more difficult to reach our goals.

Raising £100 could buy 50 pairs of surgical gloves, 80 syringes/needles or 400 surgical swabs.

Raising £200 could buy 20 operating gowns/drapes or an air conditioner for the operating theatre.

Raising £500 could buy a generator to provide 24 hour power or a set of surgical instruments

How Can You Fundraise?

For those who wish to give their time, here are some ideas on how you could raise funds for Operation Hernia:

Sponsored Events

Holding or participating in a sponsored event is a fantastic way to raise funds. Every year there are thousands of fundraising events taking place.
Some ideas are sponsored running, cycling, walking or swimming. Also marathons, half-marathons, 5Ks, 10Ks and cross-country running are very popular ways of raising money.
Collect either flat donations or sponsorship based on time or distance you achieve.

Themed Fundraising Events

Holding a fundraising event can raise significant money.
Like sponsored events, a creatively planned event that represents the charity well can bring in lots of money.

Collections at Home or at School

Collections are perhaps the most popular way to raise funds.
Collect cash donations at school, work or on the high street.
Operation Hernia will be able to help you with your fundraising efforts by providing information, support and publicity.

You can contact us through our contact page, please give us as much information of how you might support us, and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thank you for supporting us! All your efforts will be appreciated.
